Built in 1910, 121 N Main is a beautiful, unique architectural structure that looks like a castle framed with Idaho Sandstone. Until the 1980s, it served as part of a thriving business center, housing two separate businesses under the same roof. Many Payette residents still fondly remember it as Ferney's Ice Cream Shop and the Top Hat Cafe.
On January 5, 2018, the deed to 121 N Main was donated to the Friends of the Portia Club, Inc. Formed in 2004, the FPC had already successfully completed the restoration of the Portia Club clubhouse turning it into a thriving community center. They spent two years turning 121 N Main into beautiful modern structure, while still trying to maintain its historic character.
The Friends of the Portia Club, Inc., is an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, whose mission is to preserve the history of Payette County and contribute to the area through building restoration, preservation and community based projects. The preservation of the historic Portia Club as an affordable community center for non-profit clubs, performing arts, after school and other community based programs is at the heart of our mission. Our latest project is the restoration of 121 N Main in Payette, Idaho as a Start-Up Space for aspiring entrepreneurs.
